Holiday Calasetta. An ideal place for a great family holiday

Calasetta is a small village in the Sant’Antioco Island that still retains its original charm. This area was occupied by Genoans and Tarbarchin (Tunisians) in the middle of the 18th century who left marks still visible today. The village was born when a group of families from Tabarka, (a small island in the Tunisian coast), was given permission to colonize this little corner of Sardinia by the King Carlo Emanuele.

Today Calasetta is a tranquil little village that offers good value for money especially for families with young kids looking for good beaches and a relaxing time.

If you like eating fish then this is the place for you. There are about 30 restaurants and bars scattered in the village that provide plenty of tasty choices for adults and kids.

Calasetta has many lovely beaches all around. They are mainly sandy beaches but there are also cliffs and rocks especially on the west coast. Among the most popular beaches are: the Spiaggia Grande, the Salina and Sottotorre. There are also plenty of lovely views from the cliffs: the “nido dei passeri” (sparrows nest) is certainly the most admired. It consists of two rock formation that emerge from the water and are loved by divers who can jump into the blue from 10/12 metres above sea level.

The village is well connected to the nearby island of San Pietro by a regular ferry service. We recommend a visit there, especially to the picturesque Carloforte town.

Calasetta’s main landmark is a 17th century watch tower built by the Spanish as a first defence against the pirates raids. We would also recommend a visit to the modern art gallery, the MACC (Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Calasetta.

There are plenty of water activities and water sports available including diving, canoeing, fishing, boat trips, etc.

Because of the importance of tourism for the area there are plenty of good hotels and resorts there have good facilities and amenities.

Before dinner, make sure you don’t miss the lovely romantic sunsets there!

We are from Sardinia and know every corner of the island! It will give us great pleasure to help you organize a wonderful holiday in Sardinia.
