The cult in the region of the Ogliastra

Sant’Antonio from Padova: Jerzu on the 13th June celebrates Sant’Antonio from Padova with a procession that is handed on from centuries. The faithfuls gather around the little country church dedicated to the Saint, many of them spend the night in the “posadas” (small houses similar to the “cumbessias”, build around the sanctuary). The organization is arranged by a group of local inhabitants, that are in charge of collecting founds thanks to the donation of cattle from the benefactors.
Madonna del Carmelo: on the 15th of July the faithfuls of Seui celebrate the Madonna of the Carmelo in the homonym country church at the town's entrance. Here are conserved numerous “ex voto” of grateful people to the Madonna, that addressed to her for obtaining a grace. In the two days dedicated to the festivity, the town's widows assemble there for praying from the morning to the evening, while the population participate to folklorist events, attracting many tourists.

Saint Lussorio: (He was a martyre inhabitant of Cagliari, beheaded in 304 A.D. by the Roman soldiers of Diocleziano Emperor ) from ages, this Saint has been venerated in many localities of Sardinia, and on the 21st of August, also Tortolì celebrates in his honour. A great procession follows the simulacrum up to the country church dedicated to Saint Lussorio.
