The cult in the region of the Barigadu

Sant’Agostino: on the 28 of August Abbasanta and the near towns celebrate Sant’Agostino in the suburb that takes his name, and where a church was built in 1872. On the 16th of August, the Sant’Agostino statue is moved to the little country church, on an oxcart followed by a procession of men and women in local costumes.

On the 28th , instead, the solemn Mass is celebrated with liturgical songs in Sardinian language. In the afternoon, a great crowd gather to watch the spectacular acrobatic performances of horse pairs.

Saint Maria de Ossolo: on the 29th of August the population of Bidonì celebrate the Saint in the sanctuary dedicated to her, a few kilometers distant. Unfortunately the ancient “cumbessias” (small houses that used to host the pilgrims) are not anymore present.
