Costa Verde, among promontories and dunes
Piscinas is a beautiful locality situated on the so called Costa Verde area, which evokes the typical Sahararian landscapes. Every road to Piscinas you can follow from Ingurtosu is about approx. 3 km of ways very hard for cars becouse not asphalted. They will therefore allowed you to go back in time passing through dusty streets, and to enjoy of beautiful views, as for exemple wild goats climbing the canyons or the Naracàuli water stream running towards the sea. Suddenly you bump into Piscinas. Very fine white sand dunes moulded by the maestral wind in a coast line beach of 9 km with crystal clear water lapping on the shore and brushed by the green junipers. The dunes extend about 2 km toward the inland and are about 100 mts high, continuously shaped by the wind.
Piscinas could be reached not only by car or walking but by horse riding as well. They usually leave from the neighbourhoud of Guspini and pass along an old railway through the "Montevecchio coalmines" to get into a wood where it often happens to meet the typical sardinian stugs. Then, riding along the Rio Piscinas stream the dunes are finally reached.
Few kilometer southly you find "Capo Pecora" with its granitic cliffs presenting an exciting panorama. Rocks shaped by the continuously wind action, the wild mediterranean vegetation and local wild landscape make this part of the island worthy to be visited from you .
