A few rivers, mostly torrential
The flows of water (Cedrino, Cixerri, Coghinas, Flumendosa, Flumini Mannu, Liscia, Temo, Tirso) are mostly torrential and were invigorated only during the winter 2002/2003 thanks to the heavy rains fallen during the autumn-winter period: in the season 2004/2005 rains have been very bountiful as well. Only Cixerri and Flumini Mannu are continuously mutating.
Obviously from the increasing of rains are benefiting the many water reservoirs, which, during the arid summer 2003, reached their minimum historical level. The dams are today at their maximum level of authorized capacity. The Regional Plan about Conservation of Water divides Sardinia into 18 Unità Idrografiche Omogenee (Homogeneous Hydrographical Units) each one constituted by one or more bordering basins:
- Flumini Mannu di Cagliari
- Cixerri
- Palmas
- Flumini Mannu di Pabillonis
- Mogoro
- Tirso
- Mannu di Santulussurgiu
- Temo
- Barca
- Mannu di Porto Torres
- Coghinas
- Liscia

- Posada
- Cedrino
