Very appreciated the straw chairs of Campidano

The carpenters of Campidano have always been appreciated for the production of straw chairs, mostly used in the small centers. Assemini, for example, is a town that lives mainly of handicraft. Its territory includes one of the most important industrial areas of Sardinia, dedicated to the small and middle-sized companies: it is surely one of the most laborious reality of this field. Also Selargius and Sestu boast skilled carpenters.

The straw chairs were used to seat at table, to knitting or to embroidering (even near a lit fireplace, in the cold winter days), to meet friends and relatives at the house's entrance, sat down in the street during the warm evening of spring or at the sunset in summer.
