
The punto Teulada, a peculiarity of Sulcis-Iglesiente
Teulada is the most renowned center for embroidery in Sulcis-Iglesiente, especially for the table-linen. It is not casual that the so-called “punto Teulada” takes its name from the technique “a nodo” employee in this town of Sulcis. Decorative patterns and colors are well defined by the antique tradition, that over the last years has discovered a renewed interest in the insular and national market.
The activity of the women, even as a homely hobby, has always been remarkable up until few decades ago. Regarding to the handmade work addressed to the market, Nule and Oschiri are the localities with the best embroidery tradition in the region of Monte Acuto-Goceano.
The Cuglieri (Montiferru) 's handicraft field is appreciated despite the fact that the production is slightly moving away from the most ancient traditions in order to meet market requirements.
Works made with crochet are integrating part of the ancient traditions of Loceri (Ogliastra).
Sinnai (Sarrabus) has always had a great tradition in table-linen with multicolored designs, probably due to the influence of an antique monastery.
