Oristano, the Sartiglia's costumes embroidered with gold

Many towns in the Arborea area, as in good part of Sardinia, offer an important production of yarns. In Oristano, this tradition is especially visible on the parades of historical costumes, on the occasion of the Sartiglia, with an abundance of decorations and laces.

During the most important festivities, it is possible to appreciate the beauty of the embroideries, that until few decades ago, adorned dresses for women and occasionally for men. Yarn and silk were the most used materials but, even gold and silver were utilized to adorn the most beautiful costumes.
