The renowned pattern of the ceramists of Oristano

The great availability of clayey soils has given to the territory of Arborea an impulse to the development of ceramics. Not even the Spanish, that in 1692 imposed to the potter's association (Gremio) of Oristano a restriction of production (they couldn't diverge from the traditional models anymore), could clip the craftsmen wings of fantasy in this field. Just Oristano has created a ceramists school that have produced fanciful jugs. Very appreciated the enamelled ceramic artefacts as well. The “Gremi” were craftsmen associations, nominated to control the quality of the products in accordance with strict norms.
