Forests and woods also in the apparently most barren grounds

In spite of the disaster of fires, that unfortunately is a phenomenon that is spreading in great part of the world, and in spite of a weather that alternate good rainfall to great dryness, the greatest part of the inner zones of Sardinia conserve a part of the wooded heritage. Unfortunately we are very far from the environment that, only a century ago, received the visitors that admired enraptured the forests of our island. But with an opportune politics of conservation, it is possible to recover some zones of the most barren territories.

Mandrolisai

This region is one of most evocative of Sardinia. It is characterized by the presence of forests of oaks, evergreen oaks and downy oaks, where lives the typical fauna of the mounts of the inner zones of the island.

Marghine-Planargia

In the Sant’Antonio Mount, only a few kilometers away from Macomer, there is a very beautiful Park from the environmental (some paths allow not tiring walks) and also from the archaeological point of view.

Marmilla

An important project of reafforestation is still in progress in the Parco Archeologico di Genna Maria (the Archaeological Park of Genna Maria), at the entrance of Villanovaforru. A hill that once was rather barren, perhaps also because of the human settlement in the area already present in the nuraghic age, today is widely covered by conifers, long-stemmed trees and maquis.

Monte Acuto-Goceano

The Burgos forest is one of the green lungs of this region. Beside for its lush flora, it is also famous for the horses breedings.

In Goceano are present some forests which belong to the Ente Aziende Foreste Demaniali (State property Forests Organization), to which it is possible to ask for the free camping permission. Flora and fauna raise great interest in the students and in the thousands of visitors that every year spend there whole days.

Nuorese

The Ortobene Mount is one of the most frequented destination by the nuoresi and by the tourists passing through there, who wish a little of coolness, in the warm days of summer, or to enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding panorama.

Nurra

The pinewood is a characteristic of the territory of Alghero: there is one on the dunes of the beach of Sant Joan, between the Catalan citizen and Fertilia, and some other wider scattered in proximity of the Doglia Mount (from which, especially in the days in which the north-west wind blows, it is possible to admire the gulf and the territory of the Nurra, thanks to its 437 meters of hight on the sea level), as for example around the Baratz lake.

Peninsula of Sinis

The pinewood of Is Arenas, implanted during the half of the past century, in order to limit the dispersion of sand by the wind, spreads for hectares and it arrives in the shelter of the homonym beach of white sand, one of most beautiful along this stretch of coast. A shelter in the shadow during the hottest hours of the long summer days.

Sassarese-Romangia

We suggest one walk in the pinewood of Platamona, in the shelter of the homonym beach, traditional destination of the Sassaresi.

Trexenta

The Uda Mount, in front of Barrali, is destination of walks and picnics of many visitors that wish to enjoy good air that can be breathed in a wide pinewood, and to visit the altar in stone and the statue of Maria Ausiliatrice constructed on the top of the small relief.
