Albo, Turuddò e Acuto mountains standing on the Baronies
The so called Baronies's area is bounded by the region of Gallura on the north, by the Goceano-"Monte Acuto" on the north-west, by the region of Nuoro on the south and by the Orosei's gulf on the east side. It is a part of the north-east Sardinia which stretching out into the sea presents an inevitable differentiated geomorphology. There are consequently a large number of rock sorts: granit, basalt and schist. The Mount Tuttavista (806 mts) boasts many interesting marmor's caves whereas the area of Irgoli è is famous for granit working.
During the millenaries, the process of erosion has shaped many natural caves, some of which are now submerged representing a very interesting attraction for spelean-scuba divers. Atmospheric agents have shaped also the so called "Sa Preta Istampata" which is set in Galtellì and is about a massive rock with a big hole crossing it from both sides. The highest mountains are Mont Albo and Mont Turuddò with about 1.127 mts. Mostly other tops height fluctuate between 900 and 1.050 mts. The main streams which drain the "Baronia" are the Cedrino, the Posada, and the rio Mannu.
