The Giara di Gesturi and the wild little horses
Giara is a term, with which is associated an almost perfectly horizontal basaltic plateau of volcanic origin, whose surface is poorly interested by the erosion phenomenon. The Giara of Gesturi (Sarcidano) is the largest one in Sardinia (beyond 80 square kilometers), it is very fascinating and attracts thousands of tourists every year.
Together with the Giara of Serri, it is surely the most famous among those existing in Sardinia: in the middle we find the Monte Trempu (703 meters of hight). Among the main attractions, the wild little horses that are under guardianship since it is a dying out race.
In Marmilla, the Giara of Siddi is well worth a visit too.
