Caring about quality for producing the best wines
From millenniums Sardinia dedicates a large part of its farming to vineyards. Thanks to vines and to the techniques of installation introduced by the peoples coming from the sea, (Phoenicians, Aragoneses and Spaniards above all), Sardinia has reached an excellent level of production of wines, red and white ones, exported all over the world. One only (the Vermentino di Gallura) can bear the D.O.C.G. Mark (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita - Name of Origin Guaranteed and Controlled), but many are the D.O.C.s (Denominazione di Origine Controllata - Name of Origin controlled).
Among the most popular vines, we mention the Cannonau, the Monica, the Malvasia, the Carignano, the Moscato, Vernaccia, he Bovale Sardo, the Bovale di Spagna, the Nuragus, the Girò, the Cagnulari, the Nasco, the Semidano and the Torbato, beside the already mentioned Vermentino. The excellent Filu 'e Ferru, which flavour reminds the grappa (brandy distilled from the refuse of grapes after wine-making), is obtained by distillation from rapes or straight from wines. From the mirto s obtained a tangy taste liqueur, from lemon the Limocello, and many are the wine distillates made from the most varied fruits (strawberry trees, prickly pears and apples).
