What to see in the territory of Pula

In Villa San Pietro, it is worth visiting the church dedicated to San Pietro (XIII century), recently restored.  It is a beautiful example of Romanesque style.

In Sarroch countryside you will find the ruins of the Antigori nuragh, where were found Mycenaean ceramics going back to approximately 3.200 years ago.  The rarity consists in the using of local clay, which make us think that the Mycenaean people were in touch with the Nuragic populations.  At few  kilometers of distance we find Sa domu ‘e s’Orcu nuragh (the Ogre's house).  In the territory of Sarroch, the richly furnished Villa of Orri also deserves a visit, going back to the XVI century.  It belonged to the noble family of the Villahermosa  marquises which accommodated prestigious personalities, such as the monarchs of the Savoia  Reign. On July in Sarroch there is the Fish Festival.

On Capoterra's mounts, near to the residential complex of Poggio dei Pini, there is Santa Barbara little church (XIII century). The legend  narrates that in the precise moment in which the lady martyr from Cagliari had been beheaded, at hundred meters up the hill spring water started to gush out from the rock.  From then on the source,  nicknamed “Sa Scabitzada” (without head),  keep feeding a small stream.  Around the little church there are some nineteenth-century houses, only   partly  restored, forming a  half-abandoned village.
