Sant'Anna Arresi
Sant’Anna Arres is a small locality in the Sulcis-Iglesiente, which gets quite populated in the summer time thanks to its proximity with some of the most beautiful sea resorts of this land. This town is very lively under the cultural profile, since 1985 it proposes "At the borders between Sardinia and jazz", an important jazz event that it is held in August and accommodates the great names of the world-wide panorama. The show is carried out in the amphitheater next to the nuragh Arresi (two towers joined "a tancato", of the XIV century A.D., in the historical center), around which between the 1800 and 1900 were constructed the dwellings that today encircle the main square. Only a fount remains of the nuragic village.
In the road that connects Sant'Anna to Port Pine, it is possible to visit the ruins of the nuragic village of Coi Casu (XII century B.C.), where testimonies of Phoenician-Punic and Roman settlements (VI - I century B.C.) have also been found. Port Pine boasts beautiful dunes with white thin sand, that reflexes on the turquoise sea, at the border with a natural pine wood of Aleppo, which gives the name to the splendid beach resort. Next to the dunes there are the ponds of Is Brebeis and Maestrale, used for fish breeding. In the spring-summer period it is possible to admire numerous species of migratory birds, among which the pink flamingo.
