Places to visit in the territory of Sant'Antioco
The beautiful dunes of Cunisoni are among the main attractions of this territory. In the tip of the north point of Sant' Antioco Island, there is Calasetta, a sea town from which leaves the ferries for Carloforte. The tower order by the Viceroy of Sardinia between the 1756 and 1757 stands out in the historical center. The Town hall of Calasetta acquired it in1875 and took care of its reconstruction works after the two World wars. A big rustic party is held here on the 23rd and 24th of August, a bonfire is lighted and the ceremony of the "comparatico" is renewed: friendship ties are permanently tighten with a propitiatory ritual said "of the flowers", this also happen in other parts of Sardinia. On the occasion, tourists can taste typical sweet and wine, listening to the popular “tabarkini” songs. Instead, from the 18th to the 22 September, the town celebrates its patron: San Maurizio, with several initiatives from the folkloristica tradition and tasting of local products.
