Muravera
Muravera is one of the most important agricultural center of the oriental part of Sardinia, renowned especially for the citrus plantation: that is why in March, the Citrus's Fair is held here. At the margins of the popular festival, there is an art competition for the best mural: artists from all over Sardinia participate but only the best works are prized by an appropriate jury. In Muravera, you could visit the House museum that host an exhibition of local handicrafts, from ceramics to enamels, wooden sculptures and other handmade objects (the stalk of cyperus, a junco variety, is employed in the production of baskets and panniers, but the local carpets are also very appreciated).
The economy of this locality in Sarrabus area, rotates mainly around the coastal tourism, however recently an increasing interest is being paid to the inner territory, where is located the pond of Colostrai (fed by the waters of Rio Picocca, offering a rich fauna all around the marsh that attracts many naturalists ) and the Feraxi pond. Among the beaches, we point out Portu S’Ilixi, judged one of the most beautiful in Sardinia.
