Isili

Isili

Isili is known as the coppersmith's town. The art of copper working in this locality is famous from some centuries, even if it is not sure who passed this tradition to the local craftsmen. Between August and September, the Exhibition of Isili's Market exposes the local products especially those made in copper and iron. In any case, it is worth visiting the civic Museum of copper and fabric art, located inside the convent of the Scolopi Fathers. Isili is also appreciated for the carpets, blankets and the tapestries, characterized by "warm" tonalities of colors and one particular weft. The saddlebags, which were used by shepherds and peasants, are also manufactured here. From Isili railway station leaves the little Green Train of Sardinian Railroads, that crosses the Sarcidano and the Mandrolisai until arriving to Sorgono.
