Cabras
Cabras is a town of the Oristano area, situated in the Peninsula of the Sinis. It was originally a fishermen village, next to the nearby pond (one of the biggest in Sardinia), where cefalos, carps and eels are fished. Cabras is famous for the production of white majolicas, according to an innovative line, but also for the old tradition of swampy-plants working finalized to the creation of baskets, panniers and hampers of several dimensions, with or without lid. Many tourists are attracted to this locality especially in two important occasions. Firstly for the Barefoot Race (Corsa degli Scalzi, on the first week of September). Saint Salvatore's faithfuls people, wearing a white cowl, carry the Saint simulacrum on their shoulders, running without shoes: from the village of Saint Salvatore to Cabras. The day after, they go the other way round. The Regatta of the "fassonis" is also wonderful. It happens between the end of July and the beginning of August. The "fassonis" are particular boats built interlacing marshy canes ("feu "or" tifa") and used by the fishermen from Cabras and Santa Giusta (Arborea).
