Barisardo
The massive tower of Barì is the symbol of Barisardo, a locality in Ogliastra that in the past used to be called Barì: the name changed with the constitution of the Italian Reign. The tower was built in the beach at the town periphery, in the XVII century: it was then quite useful to the Spanish conquerors in order to contrast the frequent barbaric incursions. Barisardo is famous for the local handmade production, such as pillows and fine quality linen sheets. In this town, in the last days of August, Saint Giovanni Batiste is celebrated with an evocative ceremony named "su nènniri": a sea procession concluding with the launch of flowers and grain sprouts.
In the territories between Barisardo and Cardedu, it is worth visiting the humid zones of Tramalitzia and Bau Eni, habitat of numerous animal species. These places are very interesting in a naturalistic point of view. However, the whole Ogliastra offers several opportunities for foot walking or horse riding in the middle of thick woods and wild mountains. On the summer you will be able to enjoy the sun, laying on the super fine white sand of the beaches: Cea and Orrì, between Barisardo and Tortolì.
In the territory of Cardedu, you will find the sacred well of Presoneddu, in which the water cult was carried out thousand of years ago. The Cardedu shoreline is very exciting especially for the surf lovers, thanks to the sirocco wind, which reaches a considerable intensity during a good part of the year.
