Places to visit in the territory of Nùoro

In the periphery of Nùoro, on the hill of Sant' Onofrio, it is possible to admire the mono-tower nuragh of Tanca Manna.  Not far from the city, you will found the Domus de Janas of Birghines.  At few kilometres, in the fraction of Lollòve:  there is a village that was nearly completely abandoned, that over the past years has been widely revaluated.  It is a small jewel from 1700:  the stone houses facing the Lollòve Mount get really busy on weekends and in the summer period.  The characteristic church dedicated to Saint Biagio was built in late Gothic style at the beginning of the XVII century.

Do not miss the nuragic village of Romanzesu, in the territory of Bitti ( at 45 kilometres from Nuoro), where you will be able to admire an important sacred well and an amphitheatre constructed in the I millennium B.C. with basalt blocks.  In Bitti, the peasant and pastoral Civilization Museum is also worth a visit.  Halfway through Nuoro and Bitti, you will find the town of Orune, where in Su Tempiesu locality, it will be possible to admire the homonym sacred spring going back to the end of the II millennium B.C.. A landslide protected the integrity of this site until 1953, year in which the archaeologists discovered the imposing well and started the restoration works, which terminated in 1986.
