Villanovaforruand and its territory rich in archaeological sites and museums
Villanovaforru is one of the embroidery centres par excellence, especially for the production of woollen shawls finely worked, in high demand by tourists. The nuragic site Genna ' and Maria is certainly one of the main visitor attraction in this locality of Marmilla, where you could admire a trilobite base nuragh and several typologies of huts, beyond the forge where the metals collected in the nearby mineral sites were melted. The finds of the diggings are guarded in the local "Genna Maria" archaeological Museum. Here you could see testimonies of the period between the end of the IV and the beginning of the II millennium A.D., funerary equipments of the XVI century A.D. and other objects from the following ages until the VII century d.C. (for example the ex vow and cult objects found in the area dedicated to a rustic sanctuary).
The Naturalistic Museum of the Territory is also very interesting, located in the area of Sa Corona Arrubia (from which the Consortium takes the name), presents beautiful "diorami": a modern museum-graphic system that permit travelling around Sardinian natural places, thanks to a realistic three-dimensional reconstructions in original size, showing ecosystems with typical regional flora and fauna. A journey into places and seasons enriched by displays and panels for the curiosities and information of the visitors. This museum is situated in the territory of Collinas, where from a chair lift can be admired the surrounding hills.
