To visit in the territory of Torralba

It is rich of archaeological sites also the surrounding territory. In the countrysides of Mores, in locality Tanca Su Duca, there is the nuragh Sa Cuguttada: it is a tower protected by two megalithic walls and encircled by the rests of a nuraghic village. Not far it is possible to admire the dolmen Sa Coveccada (“the covering”), one of the most imposing and important of Sardinia. On the slopes of the Lachesos Mount, instead, there are the domus de janas “Sas Fadas”.
The monastery of San Pietro di Sorres, not far from Borutta, from years the monastery of San Pietro di Sorres, not far from Borutta, proposes itself with discretion to the lovers of quiet, spirituality and meditation. An alternative tourism, not of mass, that allows to breath the evocative atmosphere inside of the Romanesque-Pisan basilica (XI - XII century). The Benedictine monastery has been constructed in the XX century.

Going toward south, near Bonorva, we suggest visiting the complex of Sant’Andrea Priu, one of the most important of Sardinia: it goes back to the period between the III and II the millenium B.C. and it formed from cells of several dimensions and characteristics. And then the village of Rebeccu, than has been abandoned by its inhabitants when the population of the zone - in the XIV century - gathered in the most modern Bonorva. Near the village there is the nuraghic source of Su Lomarzu from which, in accordance with a popular tradition of the zone, gushes out water with miraculous powers. In Bonorva, moreover, is worth a visit the Archaeological Civic Museum, that guards findings of the nuraghic and roman age.

If you go through Cossoìne, it is possible to admire the nuragh Arvu, characteristic for its duotone given by the use of limestone and basalt blocks.
Going toward north, in the territory of Siligo, on the slopes of the Monte Santo, it is possible to admire the domus de janas of Crastu de Sa Femmina and of Sassu Sant’Eliseo, re-used also in the early Christian age, probably as shelters of the shepherds of the zone. On the top, there is a little church dedicated to the prophet Sant’Elia: constructed in the XI century, and crowded of faithfuls on the morning of Monday Easter, especially when hundreds of peoples climb on the mount in order to renew the thanks to the Saint. A few kilometers away from Siligo, in the countrysides surrounding the community of S’Aspru, there is the small church of Santa Maria di Mesumundu (XI century) built on the ruins of late Romanesque thermal baths.

In Ardara we suggest visiting the Romanesque church of Santa Maria del Regno, so called because it was for along time the privileged chapel of the Giudici di Torres. Constructed at the beginning of the XII century, it hosts a Synod (1135) presided by the archbishop of Pisa, Uberto, personality highly thought of by the Holy See. Very beautiful in its interior, a polyptych of the 1500's placed behind the high altar. In this locality there are the few rests of the castle and of the giudicale Palace that, for along time, accommodated the Judges of Torres.
