San Sperate
San Sperate is considered a town museum. Its reputation is tied to the numerous murals that embellish the exteriors of the houses, beside to the works of the sculptor Pinuccio Sciola: this one is admired all over the world for some of his works, in particular for the so-called “pietre parlanti” (talking stones), blocks of granite, basalt or other stones carved with precision and patience, that produce melodious sounds even if only grazed with moisted fingers. San Sperate is famous also for its “case campidanesi” and the wide orchards (the Saracens were the first ones to understand the great potential of the fertility of its lands). In July the Festival of the peaches attracts thousands of persons, but it is remarkable also for the production of citruses.
