Sardara
It is a town of the Campidano famous for its thermal baths (two modern systems and a tradition that have roots in the period in which the Romans controlled the whole territory) but there are other, valid reasons for visiting it. Sardara offers interesting cultural dulls, starting from the archaeological rests present both inside the town and in the neighbourhood. An example is the nuraghic sanctuary of Santa Anastasia, in which you can look at the “pit” temple of the IX - VIII century B.C.: it is possible to match it to the visit of the Civivo Museo Archeologico (the Archaeological Civic Museum) “Villa Abbas” and to a survey to the nuraghic sanctuary of Santa Anastasia, in the center of the town.
As we have already said, this locality is famous for the hyper-thermal waters of Santa Maria Acquas, at the entrance of the inhabited center. Very interesting also the churches of San Gregorio (XIV century A.D.) and of the Beata Vergine Assunta (VXII century), beside the Funtana de is Dolus that, centuries ago, it was used to establish the innocence or the guilt of someone. Going for a walk through the most ancient streets of the town, you will have the possibility to admire the beautiful examples of "campidanesi houses". We suggest to do not miss the events organized on occasion of Santa Anastasia, the main festivity of Sardara: it is connected to the ancient cult of water and it is celebrated in November. The craftsmen of Sardara are appreciated for the production of carpets with the technique “a pibìonis” and for the blankets in wool, cotton or linen.
The necropolis of Terra de Cresia, in the territory of Sardara, shows the ruins of about an hundreds of graves in which have been found many findings of the Roman age. At only a few Kilometres from Sardara, it is possible to visit what remains of the castle of Monreale (seven towers, keep and the defence walls) and of the medieval village.
