Gavoi
Gavoi is located on the mountains of Barbagie, and it is opened to the world, thanks to the numerous cultural appointments that, especially in the summer attract illustrious personages from all over the world: for example, on the occasion of the “Festival Letterario” (Literature Festival). Gavoi is a very active town, with a very interesting and characteristic historical centre (a part of which was recently refurbished, the granite chiselled by the local stone cutters really stands out on the flowers of the wrought iron balconies ). Apart from this, Gavoi is basically immersed in an area of astonishing natural beauty. Not far from the town, it is possible to visit the Gusana lake and the surrounding mounts, which make it the perfect place for the green lovers.
In the church dedicated to San Gavino (XVI century), remarkable are two bells of the end of 1500, and inside, some frescos of the end of the XVII century. More recent is the clock of the bell tower ( 1871), which is kept in the communal library. The goldsmiths of Gavoi produce very popular necklaces.
