The Sinis Peninsula, the church of San Salvatore constructed on a pagan temple
The small country church of San Salvatore, that rises in the homonym religious village in territory of Cabras, was constructed on the hypogeum of San Salvatore, a pagan sanctuary dating back to the Nuraghic Age, in which was practiced the cult of waters: therefore it is explained the presence of a great pit, from which was drawn the water that, in the opinion of the inhabitants of the zone, had curative powers. The site is surely well worth a visit, also for the presence of many testimonies of frescoes and inscriptions on the walls of the underground premises, to which it is possible to get in from a steep scale. On the occasion of the festivity of San Salvatore (look at Festivals) flocked numerous tourists.
