The churches of Nuorese: in Orotelli an ancient parochial

The cathedral of Santa Maria della Neve, in Nùoro, has been completed at the half of the XIX century. Characterized by two lateral bell towers, in its inside it preserves some relevant artistic works . A few kilometers far from Nùoro, it is possible to visit the small sanctuary of the Madonna di Valverde (XVII century). On the Ortobene Mount, instead, you will find the church of Nostra Signora di Montenero (beginning of the XVII century).

The Parochial of San Giovanni Battista, in Orotelli, it was constructed in the XII century. Between 1116 and 1139, during the construction works of the church of San Nicola (in the nearby Ottana), it was the bishop's seat.

In Lollòve, fraction of Nùoro, there is the beautiful church dedicated to San Biagio. Constructed at the beginning of the XVII century in late Gothic style, it has a beautiful portal in pink trachyte.

In Orani are worth a visit the churches of Santa Maria d’Itria, in whose two colors facade stands out the decoration of the sculptor Costantino Nivola, and the parochial of Sant’Andrea: this last one was built between 1628 and 1740. It shows some baroque elements inserted in the complex in Gothic-Aragonese style and, inside of it, is guarded a polyptyc of the XVI century.
