Villasor, the Catalan castle now belongs to the City Council
In Villasor is worth a visit the castle once belonged to the Catalan family of Giovanni Sivilleris, who beginning from 1414, repopulated the abandoned village of Sorres after the conflicts between the Giudicato di Arborea and the Aragoneses. Known also with the name of Casa Alagon (from the family of Giacomo Alagon who was appointed marquis in 1594 by the Spanish king Filippo II), the castle was built in 1415. It has been recently refurbished: today it hosts some municipal offices.
A few kilometres away from Sardara, is possible to visit what remains of the castle of Monreale (seven towers, the keep and the defence walls) and of the medieval village, still to discover entirely: a cross-section of the history of Giudicati.
