The most massive megaron temple of the Mediterranean

A few kilometers from Esterzili, on the Cuccureddì Mount (at the height of 1,000 meters), there is Sa Domu de Orgìa (that means “the house of the witch” and goes back to the XIV century B.C.): in Sardinia there are only a few nuraghic constructions like these.

The scholars believe that this is the most massive megaron temple in the Mediterranean Sea, that means the most massive building with a rectangular plant. It has two entrances which facilitated the control of the ways of access from the mounts of Sarrabus, Gerrei and the Barbagie. In that area met many shepherds who came with the cattle from their respective regions to socialize.
