In Santa Vittoria the sanctuary that served all Sarcidano
The temples are pagan cult places, risen in different ages. Some have been built on the ruins of previous temples, erected by other peoples passing through Sardinia. In Serri (Sarcidano) it is possible to visit the majestic nuraghic complex of Santa Vittoria, with the village and the sanctuary that attracted the inhabitants of adjacent tribes.
Around a sacred sink there is a wide fencing, with the huts reserved to the Head and the clergyman, that was destined to the assemblies of the tribe heads. Visible are the foundations of many huts and of the fencing that, in the scholars' opinion, received the guests in occasion of some important celebrations.
Enclosed by a dry-wall, the temple in basalt has a plant that remembers the hole of a lock: it is made of a stair that leads to the vestibule (whose pavement is of white limestone) and to the pit in which the waters cult was practiced, like in many other similar sites of Sardinia. In the temple there are three altars.
Many findings, uncovered during the diggings, are preserved in the National Archaeological Museum of Cagliari. The excavations have brought to light also some graves dug by the Byzantines.
