In Campidano emerged a few evidences of the nuraghic period
At about fifteen kilometers from Cagliari, it is possible to visit the sacred pit of Cuccuru Nuraxi (in Settimo San Pietro, town that owes its name to the seven miles distance from Cagliari, in the ancient Roman road). A rather steep scale leads to the top of the temple. The pit reaches a depth of twenty meters. Nearby, the ruins of a trifoiled nuragh.
In the territory of Villaspeciosa, a town twenty kilometers away from Cagliari, very interesting is a village with a mono-tower nuragh, the rests of some huts, a “corridor” grave and a sacred pit.
In the territory of Pabillonis two nuraghs can be admired: San Lussorio, that takes its name from the near rustic medieval church and has a poly-lobated bastion and a defence wall with towers, was encircled by a necropolis; Nuraxi Fenu has a central stronghold and numerous lateral towers. It was used even in following ages (as for example by the Punics) and is included in an archaeological area of about 2.000 square meters.
