On the mounts of Macomer scores of sighting towers
In the territory of Macomer (Marghine-Planargia) many are the nuraghs scattered on hills and mountains, even if some are in good part in ruins. Among all, we mention the nuragh Ruju, not far from the inhabited centre (in the zone of the civil Hospital), and that of Santa Barbara: definetly better preserved than the first one, it is found hundred meters away from the 131 main-road and has a central tower encircled by a bastion provided with four towers. Along the road that leads to Sindìa, instead, there is the nuragh Succurònis, a mono-tower very good conserved set on a outcrop in trachyte. It has one characteristic: the basement is formed by lithic blocks, while the upper part is composed of smaller but better well-finished conics. Inside, a writing still today studied by the archaeologists.
In Silanus, in front of the Romanesque church of Santa Sabina, there is the homonym nuragh. One hour is needed to visit the two sites and the nearby sacred “tholos” pit.
Near Bortigali is worth a visit the nuragh of Miuddu, characterized by a central and four surrounding towers.
