Seven thousand nuraghs scattered all over the island
Anglona
In the territory of Castelsardo, along the road that leads to Santa Teresa di Gallura, you find the nuragh Paddaggiu, one of the few evidences of still good conserved Nuraghic civilization, among those present in Anglona. Other nuraghs, not distant from this site, are those of Tinteri, Li Colti and Eni.
In the nuragh Ispiene (Erula) the archaeologists uncovered one of the most beautiful small boat in bronze ever seen up to now: it would confirm the cultural exchanges of the local populations with the navigators that came from the far Countries. The little bronze is preserved at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale (National Archaeological Museum) of Cagliari.
Nearby of Nulvi, it is possible to visit the nuragh Irru, beside which you will also find a sacred pit.
Arborea
In the territory of San Vero Milis, we suggest visiting the nuragh S’Uraki, that partially reproduces the nuraghic complex Su Nuraxi, of Barumini. In fact, it is a structure that, in origin, was protected by seven towers and a defence wall, inside which there was a central tower encircled by other four towers. It was all made in basalt. Unfortunately, few are the traces of the nuraghic village that rose all around S’Uraki: according to the archaeologists, it would have been of remarkable sizes. In this site, in which are still proceeding the diggings, have been uncovered also Phoenicians findings (among which a torch-holder) and some graves.
Gerrei
Armungia is a town with an agro pastoral economy, set in the slopes of the Flumendosa valley, on a plateau in the middle of the region of Gerrei. Inside the residential area, laid down on a hill that dominates it, it is possible to admire a nuragh in good state of conservation: it dates back to the 1600 B.C. and, around it, has developped the actual inhabited centre. Another Nuraghic tower is set in the road that leads to the plateau of Scandariu.
