In Santu Antine a three thousand years-old court
In the territory of Torralba (Logudoro-Meilogu) it can be visited the nuragh of Santu Antine, one of the most important nuraghic fortresses of Sardinia. It is a trefoiled and complex structure whose parts were build in various periods.
The main tower, which dates back to I millennium B.C., it is made up of three levels, reachable through an internal staircase. All around rose a nuraghic village. In the trapezium-shaped courtyard, there was a pit from which the water was drawn.
The Nuragh of Sant’Antine was used even afterwards, as demonstrate some findings of the Roman Age found in the excavations. Thanks to its grandeur (it reaches nearly the 18 meters of high, but the top has partially caved in and partially has been used during the XIX century to build a fountain in Terralba) it has been renamed “Reggia nuragica” (nuraghic court).
