At two kilometres from Pula only, on the seaside, lay the ruins of the ancient city called Nora which was builded by the Phoenicians during the VIII century B.C.. Excavations have revealed the layout of the Roman town, but very little remains of the Phoenicians and Punic periods, to which belong, however, the most important religious building of the site: the high temple of Tanit and the temple of Eshmun. Not too far from Nora was builded Bithia, which nowdays is called Chia, with beautiful beaches and a Spanish tower. Do not miss to visit the beautiful forest of Is Cannoneris which features dense vegetation with large holm oaks, cork oaks, conifers, oleanders, carobs, hardwood trees and Mediterrean bush and where the fauna is abundant, with the regular presence of wild boar, foxes, martens and golden eagles. The forest also has a centre for the repopulation of the Corsican red deer. An excursion in quad will allow you to explore particular locations of this beautiful area of Sardinia.
