Folklore in Barbagia
An amazing holiday in Sardinia, immersed in a natural and unpolluted landscape among ruins of ancient civilizations, craftmade traditions and Sardinian folklore. You will discover the inner territories of Sardinia, the regions called Barbagie, starting from Fonni, the highest Sardinian village. You will visit an archealogical site, which is considered "unicum" (sole existing) by the “Soprintendenza ai Beni Archeologici” (Public office in charge of protecting the archeological matters), spending a special day with Sardinian folklore and traditions, surrounded by the unpolluted environment of this territory.
Programme (Period: all year round - Lenghts: 4 days/ 3 nights)::
Day 1: ->Arrival of participants at the airport of Olbia, welcome by the guide which will be with the group during the whole trip. Transfer to Fonni, dinner in hotel.
Bus track: Olbia airport-Fonni: 129 km
Day 2: ->Breakfast, excursion in the archealogical site. You will find out witnesses to antique civilizations which not even millenniums have cancelled, such as the Necropolis of Madau (Giant's Graves), the nuragh of Dronnoro and the village of Gremanu, where an interesting archealogical area has been discovered, actually it is possible to see the only example of aqueduct of the Nuraghic Age. Return to the hotel and lunch. In the afternoon, guided visit to discover Fonni. The visit starts showing beautiful murales (mural paintings), where scenes of life and local traditions are painted. Then you will visit the workshops, where you can buy the traditional cookies of Fonni and other typical sweets. The visit will continue with a guided tour of the Basilica dei Martiri, where Eighteeth Century paintings “tell” the history of the Christianization in Barbagia. Transfer to the hotel and dinner.

Day 3: --> Breakfast and transfer to Teti, a whole day to spend discovering the gastronomy and the popular traditions such as dances, music and traditional songs of Barbagie. In the morning, lesson of Sardinian dances with live music or with CD, description of the Musical Instruments of the Sardinian Tradition (about two hours and half). Typical lunch in a farm house. In the afternoon, guided tour of the local Archealogical Museum and of the site of the Nuraghic Civilization, which is one of the most important in the Island (about two hours and half). Shopping of the typical products of this territory (cheese, wine, honey, pane carasau etc…) on display in the farm house. Typical dinner. Evening entertainment with Sardinian traditional dances, songs and music with the participation of the guests. (Organetto sardo/launeddas – Coro a Tenore – Information about Sardinian polyvocalism and about Sardinian instruments). Transfer to the hotel in Fonni.

Day 4: --> Breakfast and transfer to the lake of Gusana which is situated between Fonni and Gavoi. Immersed in this beautiful green landscape of the Barbagie it will be possible to enjoy the unpolluted enviroment and the different species of animals which live in this territory. Some pathes allowed to walk in this amazing countryside. Transfer to the airport of Olbia and departure.
