The flavors of Sardinia

Specialities for every tastes, whether you like meat or fish, savoury food or sweet food, white or red wines, distillates or liqueurs, Sardinia will be a pleasant discovery. It is impossible to go shortly through the gastronomic specialities of Sardinia, not only because they differ from zone to zone, but also because they are numerous. The wonderful seas of Sardinia guarantee first-quality fish, shellfish and crustacean, meat as well is various; uncountable are the dishes based on lamb, sheep, mutton, kid, pork, wild pig, beef, horse, chicken, turkey and even ostrich, without counting the game hunted in the woods. Every region of Sardinia offers its specialities which are always link with selected wines and liquor products of a centuries-old wine tradition.
In a programme of 8 days and 7 nights you will discover different areas of Sardinia and their food and wine specialities, through typical lunches based on fish and meat, workshop and gastronomic itineraries studied for you. Depending on the periods, we will propose you the olives harvesting and their transformation, the grape harvest and the breadmaking, the milking, the honey separation, the harvesting of wild asparagus, the baking of typical sweets, the preparation of typical recipes during cooking courses.
You will also have the possibility of visiting some wine cellars that produce wines from the most diffused species of wine like Cannonau, Monica, Malvasia, Carignano, Moscato, Vernaccia, Bovale Sardo, Bovale di Spagna, Nuragus, Girò, Cagnulari, Nasco, Semidano and Torbato, besides the famous Vermentino. For the wine lovers we can propose a visit to the museum of wine and in addition to the wine and food itinerary we will propose also the cultural, archaeological and environmental dynamics of the territories.

Exemple of programme, Lenght: 8 days / 7 nights:

Day 1
: ->Arrival of partecipants at the airport of Cagliari, welcome by the guide which will be with the group during all trip. Transfer to Orroli, visit of the hous-museum Omu Axiu. First appointment with the cooking course: you will prepare with your hands a kind of pasta typical of the area using the old kitchen of the house. Then you will move to the modern kitchen where you will learn the recipe for the prepared product. Typical dinner with also the prepared products
Bus track: Cagliari-Elmas airport-Orroli 74 km
Day 2: ->Breakfast, transfer to Senorbì and visit of the wine cellar of Senorbì with wines tasting. Free time at lunch and in the afternoon. Dinner in hotel.
Bus track: Orroli-Sadali there and back 62 km
Day 3: --> Breakfast, transfer to Is Tellas (Nurri) and trip by boat on board of a big and comfortable blade boat through the lake Flumendosa and the lake Mulargia. Lunch in restaurant. Free time in the afternoon. In the evening, second and last appointment with the cooking course: you will discover other products and recipes of this beautiful area of Sarcidano. Return to the hotel and dinner.
Bus track: Orroli-Nurri there and back: 20 km
Day 4: --> Breakfast, transfer to Turri to know the workshop of bread and typical sweets and taste of some of them. Typical lunch. Then you will visit the nuragh par excellence the so called “Su Nuraxi” of Barumini. In the evening, transfer to Fonni, dinner in hotel.
Bus track: Orroli-Tuili: 34 km; Tuili-Barumini: 4 km; Barumini-Fonni: 100 km
Day 5: --> Breakfast, transfer to Oliena, where you will visit the karst resurgence of Su Gologone, then you will visit Orgosolo, with its characteristic murales. Free time at lunch. In the afternoon, visit of the museum of mediterranean masks of Mamoiada. In the evening return to the hotel in Fonni and dinner.
Bus track: Fonni-Oliena: 42 km; Oliena-Mamoiada: 26 km; Mamoiada-Fonni: 16 km
Day 6: -->Breakfast, visit of the nuragh Dronnoro, visit of the nuraghic necropolis of Madau where thank to a series of 5 graves we can suppose the pre-Christian funeral rites. Then you will reach the site of Gremanu, where an important archaeological site has been brought to light and where you will admire the only nuraghic aqueduct in Sardinia. Return to Fonni, free time at lunch and in the afternoon. It is possible to visit the Basilica dei Martiri in Fonni and to admire the wonderful murales all over the village. Dinner in hotel. Possibility to plan a folkloristic evening with typical menu in the hotel.
Bus track: about 30 km.
Day 7: --> Breakfast, visit of the near village of Gavoi. Free time at lunch. In the afternoon: trip to the lake of Gusana. Dinner in hotel.

Day 8: --> Free time, transfer to the Cagliari airport, departure.
Bus track: Fonni-Cagliari Elmas Airport 205 Km.
