Unusual Gallura

We will let you discover the treasures of Gallura, the region of Sardinia renowned for its “Costa Smeralda”. The little squares , “Le piazzette” of Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo and the white sandy beaches and bays are worth a visit but you will see even other peculiarities of an enchanting area. You will leave the archaeological park of Arzachena after having experienced how to modelling clay, following the technique once used by the Nuraghic people. You'll taste the well-known Vermentino di Gallura and you'll appreciate different local wines in a guided tasting section combining salty and sweet taste in the Museum of wine of Berchidda. We cannot miss to take you to the Archipelago of Maddalena, a breathtaking natural landscape. You will visit the old city centre in granite of Tempio and the village of Luras with its mysteries. A week in which you'll smell the sea and the Mediterranean maquis , the signs of the past and the breathtaking natural scenarios.

Programme (Period: all year round apart from August - Lenght: 8 days/7 nights):

Day 1: -->Arrival of participants, welcome by the guide, which will be with the group during all trip. Transfer to the hotel in Arzachena and dinner.
Day 2: --> Breakfast, visit to the archaeological park of Arzachena. You will see the Tomba dei Giganti (Giant's grave) of Coddu 'Ecchiu, one of the best preserved cemetery monuments of the Naraghic Age and the nuragh Albucciu, an example of mixed typology nuragh, which is set in in a grove of maquis with multiform granitic rocks. Afterwards Nuragich ceramic workshop learning how the Nuraghic were used to mould the clay. Free time at lunch. In the Afternoon: visit to the Temple of Machittu. Transfer to the hotel and dinner.
Day 3: --> Breakfast, transfer to Berchidda, visit to the village and to the museum of wine, tasting wines, chees, cold cuts and sweets. Free time at lunch. Return to Cannigione, free time in the afternoon and dinner.
Day 4: --> Breakfast, transfer to Palau. In June and September, excursion “ The heart of the archipelago”. Leaving at 10.30 from Palau - 1^ stop for a plunge into the crystal clear sea waters of Cala Corsara (Spargi). Visit to the splendid Spiaggia Rosa (Pink Beach) and 2^ stop for a swim into the natural swimming pool of Budelli (Porto della Madonna, passo degli Asinelli, passo del Topo...). Beautiful is also the 3^ swimming stop into the crystal clear sea waters of Cala Santa Maria (Island of S. Maria), the biggest of the archipelago. Last but not least the 4^ stop into the crystal clear sea waters of Cala Napoletana, into the wildest zone of Caprera Island, only reachable via sea. During the excursion you will be offered a plate of Spaghetti with a taste of myrtle. You will come back around H 17.30.
In the other months, visit to the natural park of La Maddalena. Free time at lunch. In the afternoon transfer to Santa Teresa di Gallura, visit to the village and to the beautiful panoramic places from which you can admire the nearby Corsica and the islands of the archipelago. Return to the hotel and dinner.
Day 5: --> Breakfast. Free time to go shopping in Porto Cervo or to relax on the beach. Free time at lunch. In the afternoon: panoramic route along the coast until Santa Teresa di Gallura.
Day 6: -->Breakfast, transfer to Tempio and visit to the old town centre with its centuries old palaces, realized between the 1700 and the 1800 and built in granite and embellished with banisters in wrought iron, the Cathedral and other churches. Free time at lunch and in the afternoon. Dinner in hotel.
Day 7: --> Breakfast, transfer to Luras and visit to the Etnographic Museum, one of the most important of Sardinia, hosted in a typical house of Gallura, with granite walls. The materials and the objects, which furnish the museum are animated: form and substance, act and strength of what has characterized the life of shepherds, farmers, craftsmen and families of this area. You will find the hammer of "sa femmina agabbadora" (the woman in charge of weaning babies and of “the death-blow” of seriously ill people). Then you will visit the dolmen of Ladas and the millenarian olive trees, with the oldest Italian tree dated back to 4.000 years ago. Typical lunch in a restaurant on the bank of Liscia Lake, discovering the secrets of the typical kitchen of Gallura. Return to the hotel, free time in the afternoon, dinner.
Day 8: --> Breakfast, free time and departure.
