Omu Axiu diffused hotel

Omuaxiu in Orroli is a private house which extend over more than 1200 sqm,belonging to the Vargiu family since 1500. Known as Omu Axiu (literally Vargiu House in the local dialect), the house is currently used as a local history and embroidery museum. In the different environments that make up the house is possible to reconstruct the gestures and ancient crafts, inhale the scents and flavors of the dishes typical of the peasant society of Sarcidano

Location

Omuaxiu diffused hotel is in Orroli, approx. 75 Km from Cagliari airport. To reach the hotel drive along the state freeway SS 131 towards Sanluri, take the road 197 to Barumini , then the interchange to Villanovafranca and go along the road 198 to Nurri and drive towards Orroli.

Rooms

Omuaxiu diffused hotel has 9 double rooms and 2 mini suites. The rooms are large and comfortable, chatacterised by typical furnitures and texiles of the Sardinian tradition. All rooms are equipped with heating, air conditioning or fan and TV. The mini-suites are equipped with heating, air conditioning or fan and TV, consist of an anteroom, living room with sofa, a bedroom and a bathroom.

Cuisine

The restaurant area is developed both in the lounge once used to grind cereals and in the open loggia (sa lolla)looking towards the large courtyard where all the rooms of the house overlook. Lunch and dinner entrees are served with cheese and cured meats, typical breads (civraxiu, moddizzosu, coccoi, pani cun gerda, ecc…) and pastas from durum wheat semolina (spizzulus, malloreddus, culurgionis, maccarronis de busa); local meats and venison cooked on the spit or stewed; traditional country-based desserts with ricotta cheese, sheep's cheese and almonds. the various dishes are accompained by traditional red wines (cannonau and monica). Dishes are served by women in traditonal costumes from the 1800s. The hotel also organises cooking lessons for a minimum of 8 people.
