Case di nonna

The area of Iglesias is characterized by the presence of many disiused mining sites, monuments of industrial archeology and a cross-section of society between the ninghteenth and the twentieth-century. It is worth a particular recommendation the mine of Masua, whose mining-activity had a big impulse thank to the Pisans.
The coasts of the area of Sulcis and Iglesiente have characteristic aspects of the submersion phenomenon. The strong erosion caused by the wind and by the sea have given to this area some of the most beautiful beaches of Sardinia, from Chia to Marina di Arbus, going through the dunes of Porto Pino, Piscinas (the most important dune complex in Europe, but the dunes of Chia reach the 20 m of high as well), Scivu and San Nicolò (near Buggerru: this coastline is about 10 Km long). Very fascinating is also the wonderful small island of Pan di Zucchero, set in fron of Porto Flavia: its name was given in the eighteenth century (previously it was famous with its name in the sardinian language, “Concali su Terraini”) for its likeness with the much higher “Pao de Azucar” in Rio de Janeiro (Brasil).

Apartament

The "Case di Nonna" are 8 living-units set in a nobiliary palace going back to the first years of the nineteenth century, set in oldtowen center of Iglesias, in the pedestrian area of the town, only few meters from the most important monuments and services (shops, banks and pharmacies). The station is about 200 m away and the bus stop to the beaches is 150 m away. All the apartments can accommodate till a maximum of 4 people. They are one-room apartments with kitchenette, fridge, TV and bath with shower, king-size bed and sofa bed (for two people). For the restoration works of the apartments have been used only materials, that were in the house, with the aim to recreate a place tuned with the culture of this town. Stone, wood, wrought iron, and the original bricks of the old buiding testify the past and offer a comfortable setting. From the windows it is possible to admire the steeples of the castle and the bell towers of the old churches.
